As long term Airstream owners, we had years of experience towing Airstream travel trailers with Ford vans.  Airstream has a long reputation for being a durable coach for extended use.  We had previously owned a 23' Airstream, which we had traded in on a 25' Airstream.  While the 25' was a wonderful size and weight for a trailer used weekends and on 2-3 week vacations, it was too small for extended periods for a couple with a large dog.  We had towed both the 23' and 25' Airstreams with a half ton Ford conversion van.

As we began to plan for retirement and becoming full time RVers, we purchases a 34' Airstream travel trailer.   The added length and weight of the 34' Airstream necessitated a change in our tow vehicle.  We solved this by purchasing a one ton Ford Super Club Wagon with a V-10 engine.

The following pages provide information on our Airstream and the Club Wagon and the modifications we made to each to accommodate our lifestyle, including the Hensley Arrow Hitch.
